How about a great idea for variation?  A “Tasting Party” for dessert!

You can make many varieties, and even make some ahead and freeze them for future use.  The different containers can be purchased at Pier One, but you can use containers you may already have, such as shot glasses.   I picked up six shot glasses that work great for Key Lime Delights at the dollar store for $1.00!  I also had some of the glassware in my collection.

It looks great displayed in tier glass trays, I stack it in three layers.  I already had the trays, but you can buy the trays at Pier One or other stores.

Here are some recipes for desserts, but you can be creative and use lots of different ingredients!

KEY LIME DELIGHTS:

  • 6 to 8 shot glasses
  • 6 to 8 demitasse spoons
  • 1 C graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 T melted butter
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 tub Cool Whip
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 T key lime juice (can use bottled)
Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter together with a fork.  Place a teaspoon in the bottom of the shot glasses and press down with your fingers.  Mix sweetened condense milk, cream cheese, Cool Whip, vanilla, and key lime juice in a food processor until well blended.  Spool or pour mixture into the shot glasses.  Refrigerate until ready to use.  Before service, top with a dollop of Cool Whip.  Serve with demitasse spoon.

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE:

  • 12 mini shot glasses or mini martini glasses (same amount of demitasse spoons)
  • 3 T butter, melted
  • 1 C graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 -8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 T milk
  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1-8 oz. container Cool Whip
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish
Melt butter in microwavable bowl, add cracker crumbs and sugar, mix thoroughly.  Place about a teaspoon of mixture in the bottom of each glass, press down firmly.
In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cram cheese and vanilla until fluffy.   In smaller microwavable bowl, melt the milk and chocolate together until cream, stir.  Add chocolate to cream cheese mixture, mix thoroughly.  Gently fold in whipped topping.   Fill each glass to the top with the chocolate mousse.  You can garnish with a few shavings of a chocolate bar or a dollop of Cool Whip and nuts.

CARROT CAKE BITES:

  • Store bought carrot cake loaf
  • Store bought or homemade cream cheese icing
  • chopped walnuts
Cut up the carrot cake in pieces that will fit the container, press in place lightly.  Ice with cream cheese icing, sprinkle with walnut pieces!    How easy is that!
