Such an easy and ultra delicious dessert! No need to pull out the electric mixer, just use a whisk to combine ingredients to make this elegant and impressive treat to serve your family or guest! Perfect for dessert or brunch!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 ripe pears (peeled, cored and sliced—I prefer Bosc pears)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/4 cup Amaretto
  • 4 tbsp. melted salted butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cup AP flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • powder sugar for dusting
  • Optional: whipped cream when serving

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a pie pan thoroughly with non-stick cooking spray. Peel, core and slice the pears.

Arrange the sliced pears on the bottom of the pie pan in a circular pattern, filling in gaps. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk milk with eggs. Add Amaretto, almond extract and melted butter and mix well with a whisk.

In a separate bowl, add flour, sugar, and baking powder, mix with a whisk. Add the dry ingredients slowly into the wet ingredients and mix well with a whisk.

Pour combined mixture over pears. Arrange sliced almonds on top.

Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for one hour then sprinkle with powder sugar. Serves 8 (Optional: serve with a dollop of whipped cream)

OPTIONAL WHIPPING CREAM:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Add the heavy cream, sugar, and extract to a stand mixer with the whisk attachment and mix on high speed until stiff peaks are formed, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add to a piping bag or keep in a bowl and chill.
